Scoring standard

How we score every property

Six categories carry fixed weights in our scoring model. Applying the same weights everywhere is what makes one property's score meaningful against another's.

25%Major impact

Casino floors and lounges

We look at circulation, seating, table spread, ventilation, and the atmosphere during peak evening periods.

20%High impact

Accommodation quality

Acoustic isolation, mattress and linen standard, bathroom fit, in-room controls, and the quality of the view.

20%High impact

Service and hospitality

Check-in speed, concierge competence, language coverage, request handling, and recovery when something goes wrong.

15%Moderate impact

Dining and bars

We assess variety, kitchen reliability, the breakfast service, late-night options, and cellar depth.

10%Supporting impact

Position and transit

Distance to the airport, walkability, transit links, parking provision, and what surrounds the property.

10%Supporting impact

Value for money

We compare the real total cost, not the advertised rate, against everything the stay includes.

The editorial line

What sits behind each score

Estarvio exists to assess resort hotels in Cyprus, Greece, and Malta and publish what we find. We are an editorial operation: no bookings are taken, no commissions are earned, and no listing position is purchased.

Nothing in this catalogue is bought. Properties do not pay for inclusion, do not preview their reviews, and cannot have an unfavourable line taken down.

FAQ

Questions readers ask most

Do you revisit properties?

Properties are reassessed when they renovate, change operator, or when reader reports suggest the published score no longer holds.

What if something here is wrong?

Send the property name and the specific error to [email protected]. We verify every report and update the page when it stands up.

Why is my hotel not listed?

We publish on Cyprus, Greece, and Malta exclusively in this edition, and only add a property once the full rubric has been applied to it.

What does the score actually mean?

A score is a weighted comparison within this region, not a verdict. An 8.5 property may suit your trip better than a 9.4 one, depending on what you need.

Can I book through this site?

No. We are an editorial publication. Enquiry forms on this site are relayed to the property's own reservations desk, and any contract you enter is with the hotel, not with Estarvio.

Are the rankings paid for?

No. Rankings are editorial. Nothing on this site is sold, and no property has any control over its score or its position.
